Let us ask for good workers of the Gospel, as the Lord wants them. Before listening to the Word of God we must pray. To receive the Word of God we need respect, humility, desire and prayer. We need to know Jesus because our spirit does not desire what is not known. The desires of Jesus are focused on each of us. Jesus had only one desire: to give himself to us. Often we desire what we should hate. Only God and the truth can satisfy our desires. Some desires are like diseases that lead to death. Let our only desire be that of being united with Jesus. Ardently desire the sanctification of all souls! Cultivate and nourish great desires in yourself! O Mary assumed into heaven, send us holy priests. My intent is to make you desire Jesus Christ. Desire nourishes hope. Lord, send a priest every thousand inhabitants of the earth! We ought not to be in a hurry to admit seminarians to the holy priesthood. Priesthood has a most intimate relationship with the Rogate. The Rogate is in the most intimate relationship with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Without the Priesthood, Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament cannot exist. The need of the Rogate can be inferred from the Church’s need of priests. The Catholic laity is active where there is the work of a holy priest. Without priesthood we do not have sacraments. Without priesthood, faith, hope and charity fade away. Working for the formation of priests without praying is a useless work. Asking the Lord for the workers of the Gospel without working, is a useless prayer. The good that a holy priest can do is immeasurable. To procure good priests is the surest way to save souls. Jesus chooses his priests in all social classes.
